Urinary Disorders

Bloody ejaculation

03/20/2008

Question:

My boyfriend and I have had sex often. This last time we had sex, when he ejaculated there was a lot of blood that came out with his semen. What`s this from and should he seek medical attention ASAP?

Answer:

Blood in the ejaculate generally comes from inflamation of the seminal vesicals which contribute part of the fluid to the ejaculate. In general it is not something to be concerned about unless it continues and does not clear on its own. If it continues he should see a Urologist.
