Left wondering and worried

Question:

I am 26. i found a lump in my right breast.this was new.i do self exams and have never found anything like this,it is larger than a pee yet smaller than a marble.it feels hard to the touch and does not move.iwent to the M.D. he ordered ultrisond.then a nurse called to tell me that it is “irregular breast tissue”.that it is nothing to worry about now yet we need to keep an eye on it. thats it?what does that meen?it is tender like pain when you push on a bruse.can you please help to ease my mind. should i get a second opinion? Am i so young that i should just forget about it?? please help

Answer:

Breast cancer is rare in someone your age, but it does happen on occasion.  It certainly sounds like this is a benign mass, but I don’t think that you should forget about it.  If it is a new mass, you should certainly continue to monitor it for change, but I think it would be a good idea to seek a second opinion with someone who specializes in the treatment of breast diseases.
