I am having gall bladder surgery. How long does the surgery take? And how long does it takes to recover and return to your daily actives or back to work?
Most Gall Bladder surgery is now done laparoscopically with operating time of about 90 minutes. Recovery in hospital varies from 1- 3 days. Occasionally, the procedure must be converted to or done as the "open" procedure with an abdominal incision and an operation of 2 -3 hours. Back to work time depends on the surgeon but is as little as a week with laparoscopy or 6 weeks with standard operation.
