Spirometry results and the gas exchange box04/08/2008 |
Hi I contacted you last week but unfortunately I was a little unsure of my test results. I had a spirometry done at my docs through being sob this reading was above normal for someone my age. Then I had one done at the hosp including the one in the glass box these were the findings. enclosed ps I have had another spirometry done at my docs since as he didnt really hold with the hospital results, and again this was normal. Do you think I have asthma emphysema or what, would appreciate your opinion I used to smoke between 7 -9 cigarettes a day for thirty years. I am 52 and female. Although it can sometimes be difficult to distinguish asthma from emphysema on pulmonary function tests, it appears that your TLCO SB is reduced at 47% of predicted. If this is correct, this would be more consistent with emphysema than asthma. You should discuss this further with your physician.
