Menopause two years after hysterectomy05/19/2008 |
I am 9 years out from breast cancer and chemo and 2 years out from a complete hysterectomy due to endometrial cancer. My question is could it take that long for symptoms of menopause to set in. I have been having hot flashes, mood swings and frankly symptoms very reminiscent of my weeks before my period. My doctor has said no, but he is not an OB/GYN. Any help will be appreciated.
If your ovaries were removed with your uterus 2 years ago, it would be very unusual for symptoms to start at this time. You might want to confirm that both ovaries were completely removed and then review any medications you are taking to be sure they do not have similar side effects.
