Pregnancy prevention while on coumadin04/09/2008 |
young female in 20`s with 3 kids, still sexually active, recently with DVT with PE. on coumadin. what kind of contraception do you recommend? specifically, i feel condom inadequate. is copper containing IUD okay with coumadin use?
I don’t think there are any issue in terms of IUD’s and venous thrombotic disease. The main thing to be aware of is the fact that estrogens and progesterones will increase the risk for recurrent blood clots and therefore should be avoided.
