Worried about breast bump

05/14/2008

Question:

On the very tip of my right breast, I noticed a hard bump on my nipple. It is white in color, and hard. It has been there for several months and is worrying me, I`m not sure what kind of doctor to see and how they could fix this. Thank you

Answer:

There are several reasons that this type of bump may appear. It could be a blocked gland on the breast or it could be some nipple discharge that got blocked. In either case, the new appearance of any kind of breast lump should be evaluated by your provider as soon as possible. Most of them are benign (meaning not cancerous) but all should be evaluated, so please see your provider about this so it can be evaluated.

Hope this helps.
