B12 deficiency and bloodwork results04/19/2008 04:53PM |
I self inject 1cc twice a month to try and keep the b12 level up. Recent bloodwork showed 406. Why do I still feel so fatigued all the time, it really is affecting my life feeling dragged out. Please advise. The only other abnormality was vitamin D
Thanks for your question. I am sorry you're feeling so fatigued despite treatment for B12 deficiency. There are multiple nutrient deficiencies (beyond vitamin B12) that can cause anemia and possible fatigue. These include folic acid, B12, B6 and even vitamin C. The most common are iron and B12, but it may be helpful to have your B6 and folate levels checked. Vitamin C deficiency is extremely rate in the US and is an unlikely cause. There are also multiple medical causes (as well as stress and lack of sleep) that can lead to fatigue. I suggest you follow up with your primary physician to see if there are any other medical causes that may be contributing. Good luck.
