Pulmonary Fibrosis |
About my chest X-ray04/24/2008 04:21PM |
PROBABLE FIBROSIS, ASYMMETRIC DENSITY IS THE READING OF MY X-RAY. I UNDERSTAND FIBROSIS BUT NOT ASYMMETRIC DENSITY. PLEASE HELP ME TO UNDERSTAND. THANK YOU
Fibrosis of the lung means scar in the lung. There are many, many causes of fibrosis, some serious and some not serious at all. Asymmetric means that the fibrosis or scar is more on one side of the lung than the other. Regardless of whether the fibrosis is asymmetric or not, it is a good idea to get fibrosis of any kind evaluated further. This could simply require a chest CT scan or could require a lung biopsy. A pulmonologist would be the specialist who would normally evaluate this type of abnormality.
