Can you explain what a hypoechoic lesion is?
I have had an ultrasound and it showed a hypoechoic lesion in the mid pole on my left kidney. It`s 1.9 cm. What is this telling me and what test should I have next to see what it is?
It suggests there is a cyst located there. The next test is a dedicated renal mass protocol CT scan of that kidney. In that manner, the cyst can be categorized as a Bosniak 1-5 cyst and the future risk for developing kidney cancer quantitated (from 0-80%).
