What happens usually when you have CIN 3 HPV?05/12/2008 |
My little sister found out she had hpv a few months ago. She just had a biopsy done because of growth on her cervix. The doctor said that she has cin 3 and he is shocked that it has progressed this fast and he said it is shockin also cause her cervix appear healthy. We are waiting for the biopsy results. But I guess my question is: she`s only 17 will she be able to have kids? Will she need her uterus removed? Is it likely that the biopsy will show cancer? She is havin unprotected sex with the guy she got it from. Is it safe for her to be doing that? Can it be makin it worse? she`s still bleeding from the biopsy for 4 days now is that normal?
The biopsy report will determine if therapy is needed. Usually for CIN 3, also known as cervical intraepithelial neoplasia grade 3, a large biopsy of the cervix is taken to remove the abnormal cells and the surrounding tissue. A hysterectomy is not a treatment option. Treatment of the cervix with a LEEP or cone biopsy is the usual treatment of choice. A cone shaped biopsy of tissue is removed from the cervix. This is sent to the laboratory for microscopic diagnosis. The report will give a diagnosis and will also tell if all the abnormal cells are removed.
The risk for future pregnancy is minimal with one procedure. There is a very small risk of pre-term delivery; therefore, it is important when she is pregnant, that she inform her obstetrician that she has had a Leep or cone procedure so that she can be followed closely. I hope that answers your question. She needs to talk to her gynecologist about all of her concerns.
