Eye pain

05/08/2008 06:11AM

Question:

my daughter has been having more headaches than usual. She has had very severe pain behind her left eye as though she had had a blow to the eye. She was running about in the garden and got a severe pain in her right eye which eventually went after taking pain killers. However this morning she is seeing double when she tilts her head forward and is seeing more blotches and blue crosses. The doctor has put it down to stress, although my daughter is not stressed or worried . The pain keeps coming and going and she feels as though it is to the back and side of her eyes. The optician is going to arrange for her to have an optima scan , my father has had glaucoma and other eye problems all his life. Can anyone advise?

Answer:

Some eye concerns are urgent and require prompt treatment. If you are experiencing any of the following problems, you should seek the advice of an eye care professional (optometrist or ophthalmologist) as soon as possible: Delay in seeking treatment may have a harmful effect on your eye health or lead to permanent vision loss.
