Pulmonary arterial hypertension05/20/2008 |
I was told that I have mild to moderate Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension. Right now we are just keeping an eye on it with no treatments. I have no symptoms. Does it always progress and get worse? Is it always fatal? I am 34 years old and should I expect a shorter life span? I also have a twin sister will she also have this?
You do not say how the pulmonary arterial hypertension was diagnosed. It is hard to say what the natural course of very early disease is since most of the patients are picked up a little late. However, if the pressures are truly elevated and there is no other explanation for them, there is some evidence that treating early disease is of benefit.
