High Amonia Blood Levels06/05/2008 |
My Husband has Parkinson`s Disease. for about 20 yrs now. He fell in 2001 broke his Rt hip. to make a long story short. he had 2 more surgerys on that hip. He has had 2 heart atacks, and 3 or 4 TIAs. He has been in 7 different hospital since Oct 06. I brought him home from the nursing home in Oct 07 because he said he didn`t want to die there. I took him to the doctor and they drew blood. He called me back and said he has high amonia levels. What does that mean? He doesn`t drink? Never has.
The most common causes of elevated ammonia levels are problems with the liver or kidney, medications and bleeding from the gastrointestinal tract.
See the links below for more information regarding the ammonia level test.
