Neck crepitus

07/22/2008

Question:

I went to a chiropractor for mid-back pain. She adjusted my neck and now it has this terrible grinding, crackling noise everytime I turn my head. I`m afraid to get another adjustment, but would this help the noise? It has been like this for two months. Would a DO be a better choice. I just don`t know what to do. Thank you

Answer:

Crepitus without pain is not a usually an indication of a problem, however it can be present with early arthritis or scar tissue. A DO would be a good choice to help you identify the problem and then pursue a treatment.
