Splenda

Question:

Please provide with explanations if amount per day for using Splenda (or other sweeteners) has to be limited for people with diabetes. Thanks

Answer:

I am not aware of a reason to restrict Splenda any more in people with diabetes than in people without diabetes.  I can't make a generalization about all sweeteners but there shouldn't be a greater limitation for people with diabetes compared to those without diabetes for non-caloric sweeteners.  There is one sweetener which should be limited in people with a rare metabolic disorder in which the breakdown of certain amino acids is defective but that applies to only a very few people.
