Erythematous gastric mucosa
I have just had a gastric scope because of abnormal weight loss. The procedure stated the presence of erythematous gastric mucosa. What does that mean and what is done about it?
Erythematous Gastri Mucosa means "red lining" and usually means an inflamed lining. Typically, causes of this in the stomach may be peptic ulcer disease with H Pylori (a bacteria that causes uclers) infection, use of aspirin or NSAIDS (like motrin) and alcohol use. Of itself, it is not the cause of anything, but it is the manifestation of something else going on.
