05/21/2008

Question:

i feel like a my gum is going down to the root of my teeth and i can see some linning where gum and teeth are like the blackish line. my front teeths are kinda rust in color.what is this..

Answer:

It sounds like you are losing some of the supporting tissues around your teeth. If you have exposed root surfaces, which sounds like you do, you are definitely developing some hard and soft tissue lost. This is generally due to periodontal diseases caused by specific bacteria. If you are smoking, this will make the problem worse (both for the amount and rate of tissue loss and staining). Occasionally, some people may develop this type of supporting tissue loss by mechanical trauma such as brushing teeth with hard brush and by using wrong technique.

Please visit your dentist.
