Can I get rid of the redness of phlebitis05/21/2008 |
Will the redness fade or go away on my legs. It appears that I have swelling, redness and the dr. thinks it could be phlebitis now. At first it was thought to be venous stasis, but seems a little more serious now.
Hello. If it is along the course of the vein, it is likely phlebitis. A venous duplex would help further assess this. Generally if this is from phlebitis, the redness should improve with Advil/Ibuprofen. You don't mention where it is - if in the calf area just above the ankle, the color may be from longstanding venous stasis. If it is in the lower calf, the redness may remain. Good luck!
