Question:

My 11 month old daughter has two bottom teeth and one upper…canine, but no upper front teeth. Should we be concerned?

Answer:

It is normal for the lower front teeth to erupt first and 11 months is an appropriate time to see them. It is unusual to see upper canines erupting before the incisors. It’s recommended that children have their first oral exam at 12 months so now is a good time to have your child examined by a dentist. Consider consulting a specialist, like a children’s or pediatric dentist. S/he has several years of additional training in care of infants and children and will be able to advise you on the need for an x-ray.
