Gum Diseases

Black gums

I got my tooth pulled on Monday and now my gums are turning black, can you tell me why this may be happening?

Do you mean purple color? This generally occurs due to bleeding into the tissue. It should not cause any problem if it is for a short period and if it is not causing major swelling. It should resolve by itself within 5-7 days and the tissue should turn into its normal color. However, in severe cases it may cause tissue necrosis and exposed bone. Or it may cause severe swelling (which is generally due to continuous bleeding into the tissue). If this is the case, you need to see your doctor.
