Dental Anesthesia

Lingering effects of anesthesia

Question:

Hi I had a six hour dental procedure done 8 days ago. I still have extreme dizziness, lethargy, apathy, and clumsiness. Is it possible the anesthesia still has not worn off? Additionally, when should these issues resolve themself? I have yet to be able to return to work becuase of these problems.

Answer:

Thank you for your question. I am sure you can understand that not knowing your age, medical conditions, etc. makes this a very difficult question to answer in some ways. But.......the effects of anesthesia for a dental procedure should be long gone and these symptoms do not suggest a cause for local anesthesia.

Please visit your physician as soon as possible as these symptoms could be something minor or perhaps something more concerning. You should be evaluated.
