Urine smelling like ammonia in babies06/18/2008 |
My 10 month old`s urine smells like ammonia for the last 2 days. What does this mean?
It may be that the urine is sitting in the diaper too long. Also, it is possible that there is a urinary tract infection, although usually babies are pretty sick with a UTI. The ammonia comes from nitrogenous wastes. I would take him or her to your pediatrician and ask them to obtain a urinalysis. Also, I would increase fluid intake of your baby.
