My 5 year old have bumps to the back of his tongue.
Dear Concerned Parent,
Without seeing your child I can only speculate what you are observing. If you are concerened or your child has symptoms, please be advised to contact your dentist or your physician to have them evaluated.
Most likely you are seeing normal anatomy of the posterior dorsal aspect of the tongue (back top part of tongue). The "bumps" you are concerened about are probably the circumvallate papilla or now the more correct name "vallate papilla" and there are approximately 7-10 of these domed shaped projections. Their function is associated with taste.
