Tiny white pimple on bottom middle lip

06/19/2008

Question:

I have a tiny white pimple on my bottom lip, can you tell me what this may be?

Answer:

Unfortunately, you have provided too little information for me to do more than guess. If it is near the skin, it could be a true pimple. If there is more than one, it could be something called a Fordyce granule which represents a special type of gland tissue sometimes found in the lip or in the cheeks. Finally, if it is in the wet area of the lip, it could be something called a mucocele. Additional information about mucoceles will be attached to this reply.

As always, if this bump persists or becomes larger, you might want to see your dentist to confirm that it does not represent anything more serious.

Good luck!
