Post-medication abortion question09/02/2008 |
Hi,I have a question concerning a medication abortion i had Nov 2007. i took mistropol(medication abortion) to terminate a 1mth pregnancy. It was done at home and as advised. It wasnt as painful as i thought it would be. Bleeding lasted for abt 9days. My period came the next month on the 27th cycle day lasting for 3dys as normal. Before the abortion my cycle was every 21 days lasting 3dys. But now its not consistent. Every month different cycle days and also in the month of February 2008 i had two menstrual cycles one that was ending from January and went two days into February. Then at the end of that month. Now the problem comes bc i had a menstrual period earlier this month and possibly another at the end of this month if it comes btwn 21-27 of my menstrual cycle, and i know two cyles is not normal. My menstrual flow is pretty mild not very light nor very heavy. I realized two months after the abortion the left side of my lower abdomen seem more bigger than the other. I went to the doctor in February to have my yearly pap and told the doctor i had pains in my stomach and he felt the puffiness in the left side but said its probably nothing it will go down. Even now to this day i have pains in my lower abdomen at times and most of the time when i sleep with my boyfriend and he place his arms lightly on my stomach its painful for me, it feels like alot of pressure on my abdomen.(?) I never recieved a checkup following the actual medication abortion bc i was told that if my menstrual period came within 4-6weeks it was successful. Can u please help me undstd what is going on with my menstrual cycle should i worry abt that? is it normal to have two cycles in a month? why is a simple touch to my abdomen so painful? What could be a possible cause of the larger left side of my abdomen? im constantly worrying and i need help with answers. :) Thanks in advance.
The side effects of medical abortion are not long-lasting. Provided you are definitely not pregnant (that is, that the medicine worked), it should not cause problems with subsequent menstrual cycles or pain.
If you are continuing to have abdominal pain and irregular bleeding, it could be from a number of different problems, ranging from infection to hormonal issues to an abnormal growth or tumor. You should have a thorough examination to rule out such a problem if it continues.
