Alternatives to Biopsy for Detecting Prostate Cancer

06/18/2008

Question:

Is an MRI or MRI-S as effective as a biopsy to detect whether or not cancer is present in the prostate and if so, where is it offered?

Answer:

The only way to diagnose prostate cancer at this time is by a biopsy (sampling of the tissue) of the prostate.
