Little baby06/21/2008 11:58PM |
i am 33 weeks pregnate and my baby weighs 3 pounds 6 ounces. what are the chances in my baby being healthy?
Because you can't actually weigh the fetus while it is inside you, doctors rely on indirect measurements to estimate the weight. Based on measurements of the fetus's skull, abdomen and long bones, an approximate weight can be calculated. Because it is just an estimate, it can be wrong by as much as 20%. For any point in pregnancy, there is a wide range of estimated weights that are considered "normal".
The baby's health depends on many factors, including genetics, nutrition, infections, and conditions at delivery. If you have concerns about your baby's health, you need to discuss them with your health care provider, since I don't have the results or a reason for why the sonogram was done.
