Arthrotec for treatment of thrombosis

06/28/2008 07:45PM

Question:

i was dignosed with thrombosis, the venous doppler showed a clot in one of the small varicose veins on the inner part of lower leg. no DVT was seen. in 1999 i was treated for same condition, at that time i was given a regiment of fragmin and warfarin for 2-3 weeks. This time i was given Arthrotec for 2 weeks and told to rest my leg. Will this fix my problem or only delay it from happening again.

Answer:

From what you described, there does not seem an indication for full dose anticoagulation with heparin and coumadin. I cannot determine whether you will have a recurrence, but the treatment is appropriate.
