Sunburn or sun poisoning?07/10/2008 |
My six year old daughter went swimming at a freinds house. I am not sure if she had sun block on or not. She has had sunburn before she is red on her face and shoulders but on her shoulders moving down her arms and back it is really blocht red and white should I take her to see a physician right away. I called the nurse she said it was nothing to worry about to give her lots of fluids and keep her moisturized but I dont know if I feel comfortable with her suggestion since my daughter has been burnt in the past and has not had this reaction .
Without seeing your daughter it is hard to judge. It's possible that she had a mild allergic reaction triggered by the sunburn. If she is not running a fever or complaining of pain, itching or trouble breathing it most likely will resolve by itself in 48-96 hours. If she is showing any signs of discomfort beyond that of a normal sunburn, visit your doctor for a more thorough examination.
