07/10/2008

Question:

Can adult creams and ointment for yeast infections be used on children with yeast infections?

Answer:

Yeast infections are caused by a fungus, Candida.   Antifungal medicines are used to treat yeast infections.    A yeast infection in a child should be evaluated by a doctor to make sure the proper medicine is used.   Some antifungal drugs are used in both children and adults.

Please talk to your doctor before beginning drug therapy for your child.
