Uvula connected to tonsil

09/15/2008

Question:

I recently noticed that my 21 month old`s uvula is attached to one of her tonsils. Is this normal, or something we should be concerned about?

Answer:

Thank you for the interesting question. Likely the uvula is only stuck against the tonsil and not permanently attached.

I would check the uvula again, maybe after having your child drink some water. If the issue persists, or there are associated swallowing issues I would consult your pediatrician.
