Blood Tests Before Taking Orencia07/21/2008 |
I have been perscribed Orencia for my Rheumatoid Arthritis. A friend of mine said that I would need a blood test done before every infusion. I didn`t think that you had to get regular blood test while on Orencia. I am already getting a blood test every six weeks for Mehthotrexate. Can you please tell me which one is right?
Your rheumatologist is the best person to ask about any required blood work indicated for Orencia (abatacept). The manufacturer does not recommend specific blood tests prior to Orencia infusions. Orencia can increase your risk of developing an infection so your doctor will want to know if you have an infection or are not feeling well.
