I have been taking premarin 0.3 mg and medroxyprogesterone 555 for 15 years, How would be the best way to stop taking this med.And any side affects? thank you
There is minimal research about the best way to stop hormone therapy. Some women stop abruptly, others choose to taper down over several months. If you prefer to taper, one method is to take your medications every other day for a couple of months, then either stop or prolong the taper by cutting down to twice a week for a couple of months. If you had symptoms in when you started hormone therapy, be prepared to have them recur for awhile. Recurrence does not happen for everyone, but it is fairly common.
