Is it Safe to Take Lortab During Pregnancy?07/22/2008 |
I am about 6 weeks pregnant and have been taking Lortab routinuely for back pain. Is this harmful to the fetus?
Lortab contains acetaminophen (Tylenol) and hydrocodone (an opiate), neither of which is harmful to the fetus. However, if the baby were exposed to this daily throughout the pregnancy, it would become dependant and go through withdrawal after delivery. As long as you use it for less than two weeks, it should not be a problem.
