Birth control & Danazol

08/04/2008

Question:

I was recently started on Danazol for pelvic pain that gets very severe. I just got accepted into my post secondary program and I am terrified of becoming pregnant. I was told by my gynecologist that I could still become pregnant on Danazol. Is there any kind of birth control that is safe to use while on Danazol? I can`t use condoms because of a latex allergy.

Answer:

After 4-6 weeks of Danazol therapy, ovulation usually stops. Then it would be very unlikely that you could become pregnant.

However, as a back up, there are some latex-free condom:

Trojan Supra- Non-latex

Lifestyles SKYN (polyisoprene) condoms

Both are FDA approved.
