Tennis elbow07/24/2008 01:13PM |
Can I get tennis elbow from my elbow locking? Could the locking cause damage to the tendon?
If your elbow is truly "locking" - which is typically caused by a "loose body" such as a piece of cartilage or bone within the joint cavity - you should be evaluated by a physician ASAP to determine the cause and receive the proper treatment. "Tennis elbow" refers to a painful tendon at the elbow, which is not a cause for elbow locking. If your elbow is locking, this would not cause tennis elbow, nor cause damage to a tendon, but could damage the cartilage coating of the joint surfaces if a loose fragment within the joint is the cause of locking.
