What Medicines Could Affect the Kidneys?

07/31/2008

Question:

I`m a diabetic and I want to have a list of medicines that will affect my kidneys? So I can have an a clue what to look for when I get prescriptions. Thank you

Answer:

Good for you in being informed about your diabetes and drugs that can harm your kidneys.

The link below to the National Kidney Foundation provides some information on drugs that can have a bad effect on kidneys.

Your kidney doctor or primary doctor should talk to you about the kidney effects of any prescription drugs you take.    Your pharmacist can help you select appropriate over-the-counter medicines for you based on your medical history and complete drug profile.
