Gynecology

Enlarged uterus

10/15/2008

Question:

my question is about my daughter who is 2 years old, she was having severe pain in lower stomach and having muscle spasms and becoming weak and pale the episodes lasted for aprox. 20 min. and then they were gone it happened 3 times in 1 week, the dr. at the emergency room took x-rays and ultrasounds among other tests and discovered her uterus was the size of a adult sized uterus what can they do to treat this? why is it this big?

Answer:

Without the ability to see the ultrasound and examine your daughter, it is difficult to provide detailed information.  Please discuss your concerns with your daughter's primary care provider and if necessary a referral to a pediatric and adolescent gynecologist may be helpful.  Please write back with an update on her health.
