Question:

I have recently been diagnosed with Polymyalgia Rheumatic and I have severe osteoporosis. The doctor prescribed 10 mg of Prednisone for the treatment of polymalgia and a once a year shot of reclast. Are these the only treatments for the above problems and what are the risks?

Answer:

Prednisone is used to treat polymyalgia rheumatic.  Reclast is used to treat osteoporosis.  Reclast is a brand of the drug zoledronic acid.

Daily use of prednisone can cause mood and appetite changes. Zoledronic acid can cause fatigue, fever, nausea and constipation.
