Menopause

FSH level

08/04/2008

Question:

I am 46 yrs old my FSH level is 46.40 Have i entered menopause? My periods stopped a month back . Can I get pregnant anymore?

Answer:

You were most likely in menopause the day you had the test, but that does not mean you are permanently in menopause.  Women can go in and out of menopause for an extended period of time.  That is why the definition of menopause is one year with no menses.  And yes, women can get pregnant during that time, so it is important that couples use contraception until one complete year has passed since the last period.
