Abnormal bleeding/discharge08/12/2008 |
I am in my mid-20s and have been on birth control for 5+ years (yasmin the entire time). The past month and a half or so I have had some abnormal bleeding and discharge. I had heavy bleeding a week before I was due for my period that lasted for a day. Since then, my period came as expected, but I have been having brownish/gel-like/light reddish discharge on almost a daily basis and post-intercourse. During this time, I was under an extreme amount of stress. The stress is now gone, but I haven`t normalized yet. What could this be?
Missing pills or taking them on an erratic schedule is the most common reason for irregular bleeding. If you have any concern that you are pregnant, you should perform a home pregnancy test. Additionally, if you have any concern about sexually transmitted diseases, you should see a health care provider. If the irregular bleeding persists after you have initiated a new pack of pills, you should follow-up with the provider who prescribed the pills.
