Does Release of Puss from Side of Tooth Indicate Oral Cancer?

08/18/2008

Question:

My freind's mother had a pain on the tooth. She went to the dentist and he told that puss was coming out from the side of the tooth. He operated and take out the puss, but after 6 months it again came. She is worried that if it is a cancer. Can you tell me is this a cancer?

Answer:

Unfortunately, it is not possible to determine this based on your description. I would recommend she seek further follow-up for this with an oral surgeon or ENT (ear, nose, throat) specialist.
