Strange period

08/26/2008

Question:

My boyfriend have been trying to concieve this past month and a half so I have recently gone off BC. I had my first cycle and it was normal. Then this month about two days before My cycle was supposed to start there was A SLIGHT PINKISH color on the tiolet paper andit seemed like I was just going to start early. This continued until the day after I was supposed start when it got very slightly heavier. The next day it got heavier then normal, bright red, noticable clotting, and an odor that is completely different than normal. My periods are usually light and short, approximatley 4 days. This one has already gone on 6 days with no cramps, just a slight nausea. I`m starting to get concerned.

Answer:

You should have a pregnancy test done as soon as possible. If this is negative, you should repeat it in one week. If the pregnancy test is negative and your cycle does not resume its normal schedule, you should see your health care provider.
