Osteoporosis

Strengthening Degenerative Hip Bone

10/06/2008

Question:

I am a 44 years old female. I was in a very bad car accident 16 years ago. Apparently I have had hip tears that went undetected, could this have cause my hip bone to degenerate? And is there something I can to to strengthen my bone?

Answer:

Without knowing where the hip fractures are, it is difficult to say if they contributed to your present situation.  If you are still premenopausal, get adequate calcium and vitamin D.  Don't smoke.
