Nipple discharge09/04/2008 |
I am a 40 year old white female and had a routine mamogram performed. While having the mamogram a discharge from both nipples appeared and to the eye it looked clear but when the discharged was removed with a tissue it was green. I have had several mamograms in the past and have never experienced this before nor have I had any form of discharges at any time. I am very concerned.
Green discharge is usually due to benign causes. However, I would recommend you see a breast surgeon to check for breast problems. Some surgeons would recommend an ultrasound test to look for abnormalities behind the nipples, some would send a sample of the discharge to the lab, and some might even order an MRI scan of the breasts. All would review your mammograms and do a good breast exam.
