Breast MRI results09/29/2008 |
Hello, I have just had a mammo, ultrasound and MRI. I was told that both my brests mri results are a catagory 4b.Does this mean I have cancer? If so, is it in early stages? what is the survival rate? I was told I need to see a breast surgeon immediately. how concerned should I be?
A Category 4 interpretation of a breast film means that there is between a 20-40% chance of cancer. This still means that there is up to an 80% chance that it is benign. Also important, is that a MRI of the breast can overestimate how concerning a mass is by 30%.
The only way to figure out if this is a cancer or not is to see the surgeon and get a biopsy.
