What Medications are Recommended for Muscle Pain?

09/08/2008

Question:

What medications are recommended for muscle pain? I have tried Vicodin, Norco and Oxy with no relief. The muscle pain involves my whole body. Also, is there anything over the counter medication that could work just as well as a prescription medication?

Answer:

You describe muscle pain not relieved by opiate or narcotic pain relievers. Your pain may not be muscle pain. Talk to your doctor about the cause of your pain and appropriate treatment. You may have to see a doctor who specializes in pain management. The NetWellness health topic, Pain Management, has information on drugs used to treat pain including drugs available without a prescription. Please consult with your doctor about your pain and the best treatment for you.
