Poison ivy treatment09/10/2008 |
Are there treatments such as allergy shots to prevent future outbreaks of Poisen Ivy for children who suffer from severe outbreaks? Thank you.
Unfortunately, there are no therapies to prevent poison Ivy similar to allergy shots. There are several preparations sold over the counter that can be applied as a barrier to prevent severe outbreaks. It the contact is known, or likely, I would suggest increasing prevention (barrier lotion, long sleeve clothes, pants, etc). Also, talk to your doctor about early treatment strategies.
