Pain in Buttocks and Groin Area11/18/2008 |
I am a 52 year old female. I have been having pain in my right buttock for a couple of months. I also have pain on the same side in the front groin area. The pain is worse at night while trying to sleep but is better when I am up and moving around. Could the pain in the buttock and leg be caused from the same thing?
Yes it is possible that you may have a spine related cause, such as a herniated disc or degeneration, contributing to your pain. Rarely, a muscle deep in the buttock called piriformis may be a source of the pain. An examination by a specialist and imaging studies may be needed.
